PUNTA ARENAS SHORE EXCURSIONS

Get to know the best of Punta Arenas by taking this active and funny guided tour. In three hours you will get to know the most interesting highlights of Punta Arenas.  From the Arturo Prat pier, we will walk four blocks to reach the main square where a statue of Ferdinand Magellan is. Here is the place to spend approximately 30 minutes for shopping in the craft market and to admire the European-style buildings that surround the square.  Our next walk will take us 15 minutes to get to the Cerro de la Cruz viewpoint overlooking this colourful city, the famous Strait of Magellan, and Tierra del Fuego Island. While walking down the hill, our guide will introduce you the history of Punta Arenas, its foundation, how and why people arrived and settled in here, and after 20 minutes walking you will see at the General Cemetery how wealthy they were.  This is all shown by the huge and splendid mausoleums and dozens of tall cypress trees that make this an amazing place.    If you are not tired, we can walk the streets down to the coastline.  On the return, you optionally can ask your guide to visit the Salesian Museum   If you take the biking tour option, it is possible to ride straight to the south of the city to have a look at the new neighbourhoods and the shipwrecks on the shore of the Strait that are not located too close to the downtown. named Maggiorino Borgatello to watch exhibits of native flora, stuffed animals, maps and even better, original native tribes’ belongings that were collected by the missionaries.
